Troubleshoot problems updating Windows
- Note the error code on the Windows Update page if one is shown.
- Restart the PC, then open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run Windows Update.
- Free several gigabytes of disk space. Updates fail when the drive is nearly full.
- Check the date and time. If they are wrong, downloads can be rejected. Turn on Set time automatically.
- Try again on a different network if the download stalls at the same percent.
Leave the PC plugged in and awake during the retry. Sleep in the middle of an install is a frequent cause of a rollback.
